Our Employee Wellness Program

To encourage mental and physical well-being and work-life balance, PacificSource enlists the help of an employee-led Wellness Committee. Their mission is to help PacificSource employees achieve and maintain wellness through year-round education and events that promote health and disease prevention. The following are examples of programs and activities led by the Wellness Committee:

  • Lunch and Learn sessions. Approximately once a month, employees gather over a healthy lunch to listen to experts talk on a variety of subjects, such as migraines, allergies, nutrition, personal finances, heart health, stress management, and parenting issues.
  • Individual goal-setting and incentives. PacificSource provides employees with online and on-site resources to assist individuals in meeting their own fitness goals. In 2010, we are also partnering with other local businesses to sponsor a year-long weight loss competition with monthly weigh-ins and quarterly prizes for top "losers." As if the chance to win a prize wouldn't be incentive enough, each quarter PacificSource will also donate a can of food to a local food bank for every pound of weight lost by competitors from our company, and the other companies involved in the competition will make similar donations on behalf of their own staff members.
  • Team competitions and group activities. In addition to team weight-loss competitions, groups of employees have also joined together to develop healthier habits through activities such as Walktober (wearing pedometers to encourage more walking every day), Five-a-Day contest (pledging to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables each day and submitting food journals to earn points), and TV Turnoff Week.
  • Group fitness. At our Springfield location, many of our employees make use of the on-site Fitness Center, but for those who aren't interested in weights and treadmills, we host other activities on-site. Employees have enjoyed a varitety of after-hours classes, including yoga, kickboxing, aerobics, and self-defense.
  • Massage therapy. Two licensed massage therapists visit our Springfield office on alternating weeks. For a nominal fee, employees receive a 10-minute chair massage in one of our private meeting rooms.
