PacificSource Health Plans’ Community Giving Program Supported 31 Idaho Nonprofits in 2016

(Boise, Idaho) Feb. 1, 2017- PacificSource Health Plans announced that its Healthy Communities giving program provided $50,000 in aid to 31 unique Idaho nonprofits in 2016. Additionally, a total of 93 PacificSource employees donated a combined 302 volunteer hours to selected nonprofits. The Healthy Communities program provides financial support, in-kind donations, and employee volunteer assistance to local nonprofits throughout the year. The nonprofits that received support through the program were selected by a PacificSource employee-run committee that reviews requests for support and makes funding recommendations.

In addition, each year local employees select a new “Charity of Choice” in both the Treasure Valley and Eastern Idaho to receive funding from PacificSource. For 2016, the Treasure Valley Charity of Choice was the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho, which received $10,000 from PacificSource in addition to $8,668 in employee donations and fundraising. For Eastern Idaho, the Idaho Foodbank was chosen and received $2,500 from PacificSource, with an additional $1,300 given through employee donations and fundraising.

“We are very pleased to be able to support these great, local nonprofits and all the hard work they do to keep Idaho strong,” said Josh Bishop, PacificSource vice president and Idaho regional director. “I am especially proud of our staff who donated their personal time and resources to live out the PacificSource mission of supporting our local communities.”

PacificSource employees have selected their Charities of Choice for 2017. They are Treasure Valley’s CATCH Inc., a nonprofit organization committed to re-housing and serving homeless families with children, and the Idaho Falls Soup Kitchen, an organization that serves food to individuals in need who are homeless, transients, low income, elderly, children, unemployed, and the handicapped.
