Ten Stack It or Mix It Snack Ideas

Eating small meals throughout the day helps your metabolism kick into high gear. If you are trying to fit in quick and easy snack ideas, here are a few of our favorites.

Stack It

Many foods, when layered, offer a variety of delicious flavor and texture. Try some of these:

  1. Base: Tomato (thick slice)
    Layer: Mozzarella cheese
    Top it: Basil and balsamic drizzle

  2. Base: Brown rice cake
    Layer: Peanut butter or almond butter
    Top it: Raisins or semi-sweet chocolate chips

  3. Base: Apple slices
    Layer: Provolone cheese
    Top it: Honey

  4. Base: Cucumber
    Layer: Hummus
    Top it: Feta cheese

  5. Base: Cantaloupe
    Layer: Plain yogurt
    Top it: Chopped pistachio

Mix It

We all grew upon trail mix that was a fun, colorful mixture of crunchy and chewy, sweet and salty snacks. You can make your own with items you probably have in your pantry today.

  1. Apple Pie Trail Mix
    • Dried apples
    • Low fat graham cracker pieces
    • Yogurt-covered raisins
    • Granola
  2. Fall Flavors Trail Mix
    • Pecans
    • Dried apples
    • Maple granola
    • Pumpkin seeds
    • Nutmeg and cinnamon
  3. Health Nut Trail Mix
    • Salted, roasted walnuts
    • Salted, roasted almonds
    • Dried blueberries
    • Dried sour cherries
    • Hemp or chia seeds
    • Generous pinch of salt
  4. Far East Trail Mix
    • Salted, roasted cashews
    • Sesame sticks
    • Dried mango, sliced
    • Puffed rice cereal
    • Dried wasabi peas
    • Candied ginger, sliced
  5. Cajun Blend Trail Mix
    • Almonds
    • Pecans
    • Walnuts
    • Sunflower seeds
