COVID-19 coverage update for commercial members

Dear Member, the blog post below makes several references to COVID-19 benefits that will no longer be in effect as of May 11, 2023, due to the end of the federal public health emergency. While the emergency declaration will be ending, it is important to follow the recommended health and safety guidelines around COVID-19 as it still has a presence in our communities. Treatment cost-share benefit update

The member cost-share waiver for COVID treatment will expire at the end of this year. Beginning January 1, 2022, commercial members will be responsible for any deductibles, copays, and/or coinsurance for the treatment of COVID-19 according to their plan benefits.  

Note about Idaho members: Due to Idaho Dept. of Insurance guidance, PacificSource will be extending this treatment coverage cost share waiver past January 1, 2022. 

Other COVID costs continue to be covered in full 

PacificSource will continue to cover the following services, including services provided in an office setting, urgent care, or emergency room at $0 cost: 

  • Vaccinations
  • Vaccine boosters
  • Testing and antibody testing
  • Diagnosis of COVID-19

Members may be asked to show their PacificSource member ID when receiving these services, since there may be administration fees billed by providers that PacificSource will process and pay. 

Medicare coverage for COVID-19  

For Medicare members, coverage for COVID-19 prevention, testing, and treatment continues through the end of the federally-determined Public Health Emergency.
