Beginning July 1, 2022 health care providers reimbursed with state funds will be required to work with certified or qualified health care interpreters

OHA distributed a news release on June 15th indicating that new rules made by the state Legislature’s passage of HB 2359 during the 2021 session related to use of qualified or certified health care interpreters will be implemented as of July 1, 2022.  The new rules require publicly reimbursed health care providers to work with a qualified or certified health care interpreter who is listed on OHA’s registry and also outlines record keeping requirements for health care providers and interpreting service companies.  Find the announcement HERE

PacificSource offers two avenues for accessing Health Care Interpreter Services.  Providers can utilize internal Health Care Interpreter Staff and bill PacificSource for services or utilize one of our contracted health care interpreter service companies.  For more information about accessing interpreter services, check out our Health Care Interpreter Guidelines and FAQ HERE

In anticipation of this announcement, PacificSource has been developing some resources to support our contracted providers and health care interpreter service vendors to assist bilingual staff in attaining qualification or certification. Late this year, PacificSource will launch a Health Care Interpreter Support Program.  Contracted providers and health care interpreter service companies can enroll staff in the program to receive support throughout the qualification/certification process.  For more information about this upcoming resource, please reach out to trainingopportunities@pacificsource.com
