Better Health Starts with Stronger Communities

Doctor

Good health goes beyond visiting the doctor. Access to nutritious food, stable housing and preventive care all play an important role in helping individuals and families live healthier lives.

But for many Oregonians, challenges such as transportation, cost and limited access to services can make meeting these needs difficult.

As a Northwest not-for-profit health insurer, PacificSource works alongside local healthcare providers and community organizations to help address these barriers and connect people with essential resources.

Bringing nutritious food closer to home

Access to healthy food is an important part of overall well-being, but getting fresh produce isn't always easy.

In Central Oregon, PacificSource helped fund NeighborImpact's new Mini Mobile, which delivers fresh fruits, vegetables and other essential needs through a mobile pantry.

The vehicle helps bring food and essential supplies directly to communities, making resources more accessible to individuals and families.

Improving access to preventive care

Regular preventive screenings play an important role in identifying health concerns early, when treatment options may be more effective. However, barriers such as limited appointment availability, long travel distances and busy schedules can make it difficult for individuals to prioritize preventive care.

PacificSource works with local healthcare providers to help expand access to same-day and walk-in mammography options, making it easier for individuals to receive important screenings without the need for extensive advance planning. By supporting more convenient and accessible care options, PacificSource aims to reduce barriers that may prevent individuals from seeking routine screenings.

Supporting housing stability and health

Having a safe, stable place to live can make it easier to manage health conditions, attend medical appointments and maintain healthy routines.

For individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability, these everyday needs can become more difficult to manage.

Through its Health-Related Social Needs program, PacificSource helps eligible Oregon Health Plan members access housing-related support, including certain rent and utility assistance, to help maintain stable housing.

Building healthier communities together

From improving access to nutritious food and preventive screenings to supporting housing stability, PacificSource recognizes that healthier communities start with addressing people's everyday needs.

By listening to local communities and working with trusted partners, PacificSource continues to support practical solutions that help more Oregonians access the resources they need to thrive.
