PacificSource Health Plans Donates 50 Entries to Happy Little Kids Run, Part of Bend's Annual Happy Girls Run on May 28
(BEND, Ore.) May 16, 2016— To ensure that Central Oregon’s youngest residents have the opportunity to participate in fun and healthy outdoor events that encourage physical play, PacificSource Health Plans has donated 50 entry fees to the Happy Little Kids Run in Bend on May 28, part of the yearlong Kids Rock the Races series.
Parents need only enter a promotional code available at the PacificSource Health Plans Facebook page when registering their child or children on the event website. The first 50 registrants to use the code will have their race fee waived.
Held in conjunction with the popular Happy Girls Run, the Happy Little Kids Run takes place at Riverbend Park and will offer age-appropriate running distances for youth ages 3 to 10. Kids ages 3-4 will run a 50-yard race beginning at noon, kids ages 5-7 will run a 500-yard race beginning at 12:15 pm, and kids ages 8-10 will run a 1.5k race beginning at 12:30 pm.
“Exposing kids early to the benefits of physical activity in a fun and kid-friendly environment is exactly in line with PacificSource’s mission to improve the health of the communities we serve,” said Alexa Shook, Health Promotion and Wellness Director for PacificSource. “We believe the opportunity to participate in the excitement of a race should be extended to all children, regardless of ability to pay.”
The Happy Little Kids Run is an untimed, noncompetitive event featuring distances ranging from 50 yards to 1.5 kilometers (.9 miles). The run is part of the seven-event Kids Rock the Races series held all year long in Bend that includes kid-friendly obstacle course events and running distances. In total, PacificSource Health Plans is donating 350 free entries in the form of 50 entries to each of the seven 2016 Kids Rock the Races events.
In addition to the Happy Little Kids Run on May 28, the remaining 2016 Kids Rock the Races events includes:
- Little Hopper Root Beer Run (Bite of Bend), June 18
- Kids Splash-N-Dash (Deschutes Dash), July 16
