PacificSource Health Plans Provides $50K Grant to Heritage Health’s KrocRx Wellness Program

(Boise, ID.) April 19, 2017—PacificSource Health Plans’ Community Health Excellence (CHE) program has provided a $50,000 grant to support Heritage Health’s KrocRx medical exercise program. The KrocRx program is designed to engage patients in positive lifestyle changes by moving the patient visit out of the traditional office and into a wellness facility, where they are surrounded by a healing environment. Patients in the program work together with providers to increase their physical activity and learn ways to improve their health through an eight-week, intensive course of exercise therapy. KrocRx is a collaboration between Heritage Health and the Salvation Army Kroc Center.

“We know that traditional medicine can only go so far in improving our lives. The KrocRx program is transformative because it takes all the best medical practices and combines them with a supportive environment that provides people with the tools to improve their lifestyles at the same time,” said Josh Bishop, PacificSource vice president and Idaho regional director. “The team at Heritage Health has done an amazing job in their design of this program. That’s why we’re pleased to support the KrocRx program and its open, inclusive environment for people of all physical types and comfort levels with exercise.”

KrocRx is available to new and existing Heritage Health patients, age 18 and older, who are struggling with ailments that include: diabetes, obesity, anxiety, depression, lower back pain or other chronic pain, or any other chronic condition that could benefit from regular exercise.

Funding from PacificSource’s CHE grant for KrocRx will be used to support:

  • Academic evaluation, to ensure that the work can continue in a sustainable way
  • Financial subsidies, ensuring that patients in Coeur d’Alene and surrounding areas have access to the program at a reduced fee
  • Expansion of the program to the employees of Heritage Health as a wellness benefit and expanding enrollment to other employers in North Idaho
  • Providing administrative support
  • Medication Therapy Management, for patients with complex medication regimens
  • Conducting a comprehensive wellness survey for all enrolled patients

PacificSource’s CHE program makes financial and other contributions toward initiatives that are independently evaluated as having a significant impact for patients, regardless of their insurance status. The program has attracted ideas from a vast array of hospital and physician group practices, and has resulted in the funding of more than 100 initiatives across Oregon, Idaho, and Montana since 2009.
